Frequently asked questions
The most common questions we get from our clients
Loose fitting, dark colored clothing should be worn to the appointment. Suggested clothing items are a long sleeve t-shirt or sweatshirt, pajamas pants, sweat pants, slippers, flip flops, etc. Please avoid wearing tight clothing, especially leggings, sports bras and activewear, socks and bras. During the spray tan appointment, you can wear as little or as much as you would like. Always keep tan lines in mind, especially if you are getting sprayed for an event or occasion and have a specific outfit you will be wearing.
Approximately 7-10 tans depending on how well you care for the tan. The better your care, the longer the tan will last. Moisturizing two times per day and being gentle with your skin will help prolong the life of your tan. Using the proper products also has a big impact on the longevity of your tan. Saunas, jacuzzi's, heated workout classes such as hot yoga, hot pilates, etc. should be avoided while you have a spray tan on.
For prep - I recommend using an exfoliating mitt with a decent body scrub to ensure you exfoliate your skin properly to make the perfect base for your spray tan. We sell exfoliating scrubs and exfoliating mitts in our studio!
For aftercare - I recommend Butter body moisturizer from the Tantastic Tans skin care line. It is a spray tan safe body lotion that will keep your skin hydrated and extend the life of your spray tan. For body wash I recommend Native body wash or Aveeno. We also retail spray tan safe body wash in our studio as well.
The short answer is yes, you can workout with a spray tan on, as long as it is after you have completed your first rinse. We recommend applying a solid coat of moisturizer all over your body prior to your workout so any sweat that builds up on your skin during your workout does not eat away at the color on your skin.
We also recommend applying powder on areas you may sweat and have friction from clothing. Most commonly, your back and chest where your sports bra will be rubbing up against. This will prevent the tan from rubbing off here.
